Pudgy Penguins, the IP and brand development company renowned for its globally recognized characters and popular NFT collections, has set the stage for an unprecedented leap into the world of Web3 gaming. The alpha launch of Pudgy World, fueled by zkSync Era, was announced with a captivating trailer at Art Basel Miami.

Pudgy World represents a convergence of digital and physical realms, inviting Pudgy Penguins NFT holders, Pudgy Toy owners, and adventurous gamers to immerse themselves in a captivating, open-world digital environment. 

Scheduled for an alpha launch in Q1 of 2024, Pudgy World offers players the chance to explore, customize unique penguin characters, embark on story-driven adventures, and connect with friends along the way.

One of the major highlights of the announcement is the introduction of two new Hero Characters, Pudgy, and Peaches, who will not only play pivotal roles in shaping the game’s narrative but will also guide players through the exciting escapades within Pudgy World.

Pudgy World’s alpha version boasts a highly customizable open-world game, seamlessly blending physical toys, NFTs, and a blockchain-based digital world. The curated user experience aims to facilitate easy onboarding into the Web3 ecosystem through art, play, and community engagement.

The announcement revealed that Pudgy World alpha will initially lack tradability between users, meaning returns can only be obtained from the original sale. However, plans are in place to enable players to participate in the Pudgy World game economy in later phases.

To support its global success, Pudgy Penguins has chosen zkSync, citing its revolutionary zero-knowledge (ZK) technology. The selection of zkSync, the first zkEVM and fastest proof system in production to scale Ethereum, positions Pudgy World for seamless interaction with other notable IPs and big brands building on zkSync.
